It has been a difficult summer for Adrian Lee’s side, but the last act still matters, and Hoddesdon will be determined to make sure their final afternoon in the division is played with pride, fight and a bit of defiance.

The league table tells the story of a season that has demanded resilience. Hoddesdon sit ninth with 213 points from 17 matches, having won twice, lost 14 times and seen one match abandoned, while Preston sit bottom on 184 after a rain-affected penultimate weekend left the lower end of the table finally settled. The raw win column makes uncomfortable reading, but the bonus points column shows why Hoddesdon stayed in the conversation for so long, with 55 batting points and 88 bowling points keeping them alive deeper into August than many might have expected. That is something Lee and his players can take into the winter with them, even if the final outcome is not the one they wanted. Relegation hurts, but this has not been a side that folded quietly, and the fact they were still scrapping so late in the campaign says plenty about the character in the group. Lutonian arrive fourth in the table with 384 points, having won ten of their 17 matches, lost five and had two fixtures abandoned. They are not involved in the relegation battle, but they remain one of the division’s stronger outfits and will come to Lowfield looking to finish their own season well. Above them, Old Albanian, Boxmoor and Luton Town & Indians are locked in at the top end, while Lutonian have already done enough to prove they belong in the upper half.
