Following another solid performance on Saturday Hoddesdon travelled to Welwyn Garden City in the 20/20 comp on Sunday with a strong but albeit young team. Hoddesdon skipper Walters won the toss and put the home team into bat. Walters using his experience elected to take the new ball alongside Hoddy pace man Sam Davis and made early inroads into the welwyn batting line up. James Mead followed the openers with George Duke and both bowled very tidy spells which continued to keep the run rate down whilst taking wickets at regular intervals. The final bowling pair of Max Murray and the senior figure of Martin Brown finished off the welwyn innings finishing on 118... With weather in the equation Walters and brown took the opening berth with the intent of getting ahead of the run rate should weather be an issue, however both fell for single figures along with Sturdy batting at four to some fine spin bowling from the welwyn attack. However this only enabled the inform batsmen of Davis and Burroughs to continue their fine form with an array of quality shots and brutal hitting to take Hoddesdon to an easy victory. This continues a fantastic start in all formats for the pleur team from Hoddesdon with the younger lads contributing in all games!
