Hoddesdon 1st XI celebrated a win in the 2nd pre-season friendly against local rivals Broxbourne at a cold, overcast Mill Lane.
Captain Rob Walters won the toss and elected to bowl and the side got off to a good start with early wickets from Sam Davies and George Duke.
The Hoddesdon attack continued to bowl tight lines and managed to get through the Broxbourne middle order with James Mead, Rob Walters, Tom Fryers and overseas player Josh Bailey all picking up well earned wickets. Broxbourne ended 129-10.
Hoddesdon chasing 130 to win got off to a shaky start as Rob Jones (1) and Tom Fryers (10) fell to the Broxbourne opener bowler M Scanlon. First Team regular Sam Davis (38) and overseas Josh Bailey (24) settled the middle order before they both fell to the Broxbourne attach. Todd Sturdy (46 n.o) dug in whilst others fell around him cheaply to hit the winning runs.
