Join the Team at Hoddesdon Cricket Club — Exciting Volunteer Roles Now Open!

Hoddesdon Cricket Club is continuing to grow both on and off the field, and we’re on the lookout for passionate volunteers to join our team as we strive to become the best community cricket club we can be. Whether you’re an existing player, parent, supporter or social member, or someone new who wants to get involved in local sport — we have a role for you!

These are voluntary positions, but they offer a fantastic opportunity to gain experience, make friends, and help your local club thrive. We’re looking for people of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels to lend their talents and enthusiasm to help drive the club forward.

Below are the categories, positions available, and a brief summary of the key responsibilities and skills we’re looking for.

COMMUNICATION & MARKETING
Junior Cricket Marketing Co-ordinator

Main Duties:

  • Work with Head of Junior Cricket and others to develop schools/parents/youth marketing strategy to grow junior membership.
  • Implement strategy using local (social) media channels and local partnerships.

Main Skills Required:

  • Some marketing experience ideal.
  • Basic knowledge of local schools and community organisations.
  • Some experience of social media.
  • Knowledge of Facebook advertising desirable (training available).

Community Relations Lead

Main Duties:

  • Increase the club’s partnerships with local community groups and stakeholders by reaching out to community groups, local charities, Friends of HCC, Lowfield School, and the local council.
  • Develop stakeholder relations plan (obtain feedback, requests, identify opportunities to increase clubhouse usage).
  • Liaise with Grants Lead to identify opportunities for future partnerships that can create revenue via grants.

  • Organisational awareness.
  • Local community involvement/awareness.
  • Communication and planning.
  • Networking.

ADMINISTRATION
Clubmark Coordinator

Main Duties:

  • Lead the club’s work towards gaining and maintaining ECB Clubmark accreditation.
  • Keep up to date with ECB guidance, criteria, and deadlines for accreditation.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date policies, procedures, and records required for recreation (e.g. safeguarding, coaching qualifications, insurance).
  • Liaise with the Welfare Officer, coaches, and committee to ensure compliance across all areas.
  • Upload and manage evidence online in the Clubmark portal.
  • Coordinate with the county board and ECB officials during assessments or reviews.
  • Report progress and requirements regularly to the main committee.
  • Promote best practice and ensure the club continues to meet Clubmark standards beyond renewal dates.

Main Skills Required:

  • Organised and methodical, with good record-keeping skills.
  • Confident with online systems and document management.
  • Attention to detail to ensure policies and records are accurate and up to date.
  • Good communication, able to liaise with officials, volunteers, and committee members.
  • Reliable and proactive, keeping the club on track with deadlines.
  • Interest in governance, safeguarding, and quality standards in sport.

Pitchero Website Administrator

Main Duties:

  • Update and refresh content.
  • Maintain member contact list.
  • Commission new content as appropriate.
  • Main Skills Required:
  • Basic Pitchero skills (training available).

FINANCE
Grants Coordinator

Main Duties:

  • Maintain and develop existing club information database.
  • Maintain and develop database of grant sources.
  • Identify target grants.
  • Systemise grant application process.
  • Main Skills Required:
  • Basic IT.
  • Applying basic research and information collation.
  • Organisational awareness (supported).
  • Passion for entering competitions!

Deputy Treasurer

Main Duties:

  • Support the lead Treasurer in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Act as liaison between Treasurer and Accountant to ensure smooth communication and workflow.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports, forecasts, and updates for the committee.
  • Review and verify invoices, receipts, and payments for approval.
  • Help monitor cash flow, budgets, and expenditure against forecasts.
  • Contribute to the preparation and presentation of financial data.
  • Maintain organised records of correspondence and transactions.
  • Step in for the Treasurer when required, ensuring continuity of financial operations.
  • Together with the Treasurer and Accountant, ensure financial data and decisions are based on reliable information.

Main Skills Required:

  • Finance experience.
  • Basic IT (Excel).
  • Well organised.
  • Good planner and communicator.
  • Applying basic research and information collation.
  • Organisational awareness.
  • Accountant

Accountant

Main Duties:

  • Provide operational support — recording transactions, preparing draft reports, reconciling accounts.
  • Assist the Treasurer with maintaining accurate up-to-date financial records.
  • Support budgeting, cash flow tracking, and monitoring income/expenditure.
  • Ensure all invoices, receipts, and payments are properly recorded.
  • Assist with reconciliation of bank statements and reports.
  • Contribute to preparing formal accounts/documents.
  • Provide financial insight to help committees make informed decisions.
  • Together with the Treasurer, ensure records are accurate and realistic.

Main Skills Required:

  • Basic accounting or bookkeeping knowledge (formal qualification helpful but not essential).
  • Comfortable with spreadsheets or accounting software.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy with numbers.
  • Organised, methodical, and reliable.
  • Good communication, able to explain finances clearly to non-finance committee members.
  • Trustworthy and discreet with confidential information.

SOCIAL & FUNDRAISING
Event Coordinator

Main Duties:

  • Develop an idea for standalone fundraising events.
  • Develop initial business case and timeline.
  • Recruit event working group of individuals to support.
  • Deliver successful event.

Main Skills Required:

  • Project or event management experience ideal.
  • Individual drive/initiative.
  • Ability to gather assistance from others.

HOUSE
Deputy Bar Person

Main Duties:

  • Work with the Lead Bar Person to ensure the following is covered:
  • Order and source products (beer, wine, soft drinks, snacks, cleaning supplies) to maintain stock levels.
  • Clean and maintain beer lines and cellar equipment to required standards.
  • Organise and manage the staff/volunteer rota to ensure adequate cover for events and match days when the lead is unavailable.
  • Oversee bar setup, cash handling, and closing procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health & safety, and hygiene regulations.
  • Provide a welcoming, friendly service to members and guests.
  • Report regularly to the committee on bar performance, sales, and stock.

Main Skills Required:

  • Experience of bar work or hospitality management (desirable).
  • Knowledge of cellar management and beer line cleaning (training provided).
  • Organised, reliable, and able to manage rotas effectively.
  • Good communication and leadership skills to coordinate staff/volunteers.
  • Strong customer service skills — approachable, friendly, and professional.
  • Basic numeracy and cash-handling ability.
  • Flexible and willing to work evenings, weekends, and event days.

MEMBERSHIP
New Members Induction / Membership Issues

Main Duties:

  • Provide a welcoming contact for new members.
  • Advise on joining options to suit club budget and preferred sport/social focus.
  • Link up with existing members for ongoing welcome/“buddying.”
  • Undertake joining/satisfaction surveys.
  • Seek to rectify issues early.

Main Skills Required:

  • Basic IT.
  • Communication.
  • Some organisational knowledge.
  • Empathy & engagement.
