Clay Stone and Greg Marsh were joint recipients of the Greene King Level Head Greene Jacket Award this past weekend, after two superb individual performances for their sides.
First up, Clay smashed a glorious 107 from from138 balls away at Shenley Village as the first team romped home to victory by 81 runs in their Championship fixture. It included a scintillating 9 boundaries and once again underlined the overseas man's ability with willow in hand.
On the same day, the 2nd XI hosted league leaders Hitchin at Lowfield and had to win to give themselves even a glimmer of hope of league survival. The visitors won the toss and elected to bat but up stepped Greg Marsh who took a superb 4 wickets from his 10 overs, including one maiden and an economy of 3.3. It was a spell of dreams from Marsh and returning captain Adrian Lee will be glad he tossed him the ball early doors.
Marsh wasn't done there though.
In the succesful chase, he finished 54 not out from 64 balls ands saw his team home for their first victory in many weeks, to give the side something to finally smile about. It was a brilliant all round performance and resulted in Marsh's 2nd Green Jacket Award of the season.
Head of Cricket Louis Purves commented "The Green Jacket has been passed around plenty this season, but Greg and Clay both stood out this week. Clay brought composure and quality with the bat, while Greg's all-round impact was immense. It’s fitting they share the honour — two big performances that lifted both the first and second XI's."
Hoddesdon Cricket Club thanks Greene King for their ongoing support and invites all supporters to enjoy a pint of Level Head IPA—the perfect accompaniment to a winning weekend.
