Digital & Social Media Volunteers Wanted

If you have a few hours to spare, enjoy being creative and would like to become part of the Hoddesdon Cricket Club family, we'd love to hear from you

Hoddesdon Cricket Club is calling on enthusiastic, creative and motivated individuals to join its Digital & Social Media Team as preparations gather pace for the 2027 cricket season. With five senior teams, a thriving junior section and a busy calendar of cricket and social events on the horizon, the club is looking to expand its volunteer media operation and welcome some fresh faces behind the scenes.

The club's digital presence plays an increasingly important role in connecting players, members, supporters and the wider local community. From celebrating performances on the pitch to promoting events and sharing the latest club news, our website and social media channels help keep everyone informed and engaged throughout the year.

Now, we're looking for new volunteers to help us take things even further!

WHAT DOES THE ROLE INVOLVE?

There are plenty of opportunities to get involved, with responsibilities covering a wide range of digital media activities. Volunteers can contribute according to their interests, availability and individual strengths, with tasks including:

  • Writing match previews and reports for our senior teams.
  • Researching player statistics, club records and historical information.
  • Producing news articles and website content.
  • Designing eye-catching graphics, promotional posters and matchday artwork.
  • Creating and uploading content across our social media channels.
  • Promoting club events, fixtures, fundraisers and community initiatives.
  • Liaising with the club committee to coordinate news and announcements.
  • Helping develop new ideas to increase our digital reach and engagement.

With so much cricket taking place across our senior and junior sections, there is always something worth sharing. Whether it's a memorable innings, an outstanding bowling performance, a junior cricket milestone or an upcoming social event, our aim is to give every part of Hoddesdon Cricket Club the coverage it deserves.

NO EXPERIENCE? NO PROBLEM!

Previous experience in journalism, graphic design or social media management is certainly not essential, and we welcome applications from anyone aged 16 or over. A basic understanding of computers would be advantageous, but enthusiasm, reliability, organisation and a willingness to learn are the qualities we value most.

Perhaps you're a student interested in journalism, media or graphic design and would like to gain some practical experience. Alternatively, you might be a cricket enthusiast who enjoys writing, someone with a creative eye for digital content, or simply a club supporter keen to contribute something positive.

Our volunteer team offers an opportunity to develop useful skills, contribute ideas and gain experience in a friendly, community-focused sporting environment. You won't be expected to do everything, and there is room for people with different interests and abilities to play their part.

HELP SHAPE OUR 2027 SEASON

Although the first ball of the 2027 season is still several months away, preparations for our digital coverage are already underway. We're keen to build an organised, enthusiastic team capable of delivering engaging content throughout the season while continuing to raise the club's profile within Hoddesdon and the surrounding communities.

If you have a few hours to spare, enjoy being creative and would like to become part of the Hoddesdon Cricket Club family, we'd love to hear from you. You don't need to be a cricketer or an existing club member to get involved, just someone willing to contribute and help showcase everything our club has to offer.
