Here’s an early Christmas present for our juniors — Hoddesdon Cricket Club’s Junior Winter Nets are now live to pre-book, with an early bird rate of just £40 for ten sessions if booked before 30 November!

After another successful summer season across our junior age groups, preparations are already underway for 2026. The indoor winter programme provides the perfect opportunity for young cricketers to stay active, sharpen their skills, and get a head start on the new campaign.

From Tuesday 20 January, Hoddesdon’s dedicated coaches will be running weekly sessions at St Mary’s High School, Cheshunt (EN7 5FB), open to all players aged 9 and above. The sessions take place from 6:00–7:00pm every Tuesday, excluding school holidays.

This year’s winter nets promise a blend of pre-season fitness work, batting and bowling development, and fielding drills, all designed to help players build confidence and improve performance in a supportive and fun environment. Whether you’re a returning junior or new to the club, these sessions are the perfect way to stay engaged through the off-season.

Early Bird Offer – Save £10 Before 30 November!

Parents and guardians are encouraged to take advantage of the early bird offer, available until 30 November, where the 10-week block costs £40. From 1 December onwards, the price will rise to £50, so booking early not only guarantees your child’s place but also saves you £10.

All bookings must be made in advance via the club’s online system. Please note that places are only available as a pre-booked block — sessions cannot be purchased individually. Spaces are limited, and bookings are non-refundable, so early registration is strongly recommended.

What to Expect

Each week, young players will enjoy a structured one-hour session that combines:

Batting drills focusing on technique and consistency
Bowling practice to develop consistency and game plans
Pre-season fitness to boost strength, stamina, and reaction time
Team activities designed to promote confidence, sportsmanship, and teamwork
The sessions will be led by Hoddesdon’s experienced junior coaches, who will ensure that all participants receive personalised guidance suited to their age and ability.

Session Dates

The ten sessions will run on the following dates:

Every Tuesday from 20 January to 14 April, 6:00–7:00pm

Excluding 17 February (half term), and 31 March & 7 April (Easter holidays)

That means ten carefully structured evenings of cricket to help our juniors maintain momentum through the colder months and hit the ground running when outdoor training resumes in the spring.

Building Towards Another Big Season

Hoddesdon Cricket Club continues to take pride in the development of its junior section. Over the past few years, the club has seen incredible growth in participation across all youth age groups, with many players progressing into senior cricket.

The winter nets are a key part of that journey — giving young players a safe indoor environment to refine their skills and prepare for the challenges of the new season. The sessions also serve as a great way for newer players to integrate into the club before the outdoor campaign begins.

Club organisers are encouraging all families to get involved early and make the most of this excellent value pre-season training programme.

The school’s sports hall provides a modern, well-equipped indoor space perfect for high-quality net training. Players should arrive a few minutes before the 6pm start, dressed appropriately for indoor cricket and ready to train.
