RAIN CLOUDS LOOM BUT HODDESDON AIM TO BRING THE THUNDER

RAIN CLOUDS LOOM BUT HODDESDON AIM TO BRING THE THUNDER

Stephen Wheatcroft18 Jul - 10:11

With one eye on the skies, all four Hoddesdon CC senior teams are in action Saturday, chasing form and vital points

1st XI – Away vs Hemel Hempstead Town CC (11:00, Heath Park)
Form: W D L W L
The 1st XI face a trip to Hemel Hempstead, whose inconsistent form mirrors our own (D L L W L). Hoddesdon will be eager to bounce back after last week’s defeat, and despite the away challenge, the side boasts enough firepower to test a fragile Hemel outfit. A key battle could be in the top order – whoever settles quickest may dictate the match’s tempo.

Prediction: A tight encounter, but a great chance for Hoddesdon to return to winning ways.

2nd XI – Home vs Hatfield and Crusaders CC 1st XI (12:00, Lowfield)
Form: L C L L L
The 2s have endured a tough run of results, and Saturday presents no easy task as they host Hatfield & Crusaders – another side on a five-match winless streak. Both teams are desperate for a turnaround. With home advantage and the potential return of key players, this is a golden opportunity to restore confidence and spark a late-season revival.

Prediction: If the 2s can click early, this could be the breakthrough win they need.

3rd XI – Away vs Preston CC 4th XI (13:00, Preston CC)
Form: L W L W W
Momentum is building for the 3rd XI, who have taken three wins from their last five. However, they face their biggest challenge yet in the form of a red-hot Preston 4th XI side who are on a five-game unbeaten streak. Hoddesdon will need to field their strongest XI and execute well, especially in the middle overs, to pull off a potential upset.

Prediction: A tough away day – but recent form suggests the 3s could spring a surprise.

3rd XI (HEBL) – Home vs Stansted Hall & Elsenham 2nd XI (13:00, Thundridge Sports Field)
Form: L L L L L
The 3rd XI HEBL side is desperate to halt a losing streak, and this match against Stansted Hall & Elsenham – who’ve alternated wins and losses – offers hope. With a few tweaks and renewed focus, Hoddesdon can look to finally get over the line.

Prediction: A gritty match – but the perfect setting for a long-awaited win.
