2018 saw 3 promotions and a top two finish from the first team, losing out to Harpenden in the play off. We all agreed it was one of the best seasons in the club’s history and would be hard to top.

Well guess what? We only went and topped it didn’t we.

This season was (as voted by those that were in the bar Saturday night) the greatest ever. The first team – Champions and promoted to the Herts Premier League. The second team – 2nd, 1 point behind eventual winners Northchurch and promoted to Division Two B. The third team – 2nd and promoted to Division Nine A. The one blip was the fourth team who finished in 8th placed and could be relegated. We are hopeful as a club that the 4’s will remain in Division 10A next season when the league restructure the lower leagues.

Looking at the colt’s section. Our Under 10’s were victorious in their mini league and made it through to the County Semi Finals. The Under 14s finished 2 points off the top of their league. Scott Higgins, Ollie Welsby and Aryaman Shukla were enrolled onto the National Fast Bowling academy and let’s not forget that Finn Higgs became an internet sensation.

Most importantly this season the club fielded 44 players each week for league cricket. Even at times of need when we seemed to lose a whole club due to Spurs, four full elevens took the field and brought home 120 points.
The juniors that played adult cricket this year showed how good the talent is coming through the ranks - all the guys stepped up playing pivotal roles in their relevant sides.
The future is very very bright and we are a lucky club to have a thriving and talented colts section.

If you wore the Hoddy badge this season, whether that be in the first team, second team, colts, on the sidelines or even on your Hoddy hoody down to the shops – feel proud of what you and this club have achieved not only this season but over the past few. We are one club from top to bottom and one #greenmachine family.
