'Whether your aim is to push yourself competitively or simply enjoy the game again with good people, there’s a place for you here...'
- Louis Purves - Head of Cricket

Join the Club. Join the Community. Join Hoddesdon Cricket Club.

Hoddesdon Cricket Club is on the lookout for new players — and it genuinely doesn’t matter whether you’re an experienced Saturday 1st XI cricketer, somebody returning to the game after years away, a complete beginner, a Sunday social player, or a youngster looking to develop your skills for the future.

If you can bat, bowl, field, keep wicket… or simply want to give cricket a go, we want to hear from you.

Based at the fantastic Lowfield ground in the heart of the community, Hoddesdon Cricket Club is one of the busiest, most active and most welcoming clubs in Hertfordshire. Cricket at Hoddesdon is about being part of something lively, social, ambitious and inclusive.

The club currently runs five senior teams across Saturdays and Sundays, alongside a thriving junior section and regular coaching opportunities for players of all ages and abilities. Whether you’re looking for competitive league cricket, relaxed social cricket, a pathway into higher-level cricket, or simply a new sporting home with great people around you, there is genuinely something for everybody at Hoddesdon.

Our senior section features players ranging from teenagers breaking into adult cricket for the first time, right through to experienced club cricketers who have been playing for decades. Some players come to Hoddesdon looking to push themselves at a high level, while others simply want to enjoy the game again in a friendly environment after time away from cricket.

And that’s exactly what makes the club special.

On any given weekend you’ll find a brilliant atmosphere around the ground, players and supporters enjoying the sunshine with a drink after the game, junior cricketers watching senior matches, and teams packed with a mixture of experienced heads and exciting young talent. There is a real sense of togetherness around the club and we are proud of the welcoming culture that has been built both on and off the field.

Head of Cricket at Hoddesdon, Louis Purves, said "One of the biggest positives at Hoddesdon is that players can find the level of cricket that suits them. We have ambitious senior cricket, development opportunities for younger players, social Sunday cricket and a fantastic junior pathway. Whether your aim is to push yourself competitively or simply enjoy the game again with good people, there’s a place for you here.

The facilities on offer are excellent too. Hoddesdon boasts three pitches available to them on a Saturday, quality practice and training opportunities, clean and modern changing rooms, a busy clubhouse and a fully stocked bar which has become a huge social hub for members throughout the season. Away from cricket, the club also hosts regular social events across the year, helping make Hoddesdon one of the liveliest and most vibrant clubs in the county.

Importantly, we know that many people may feel nervous about joining a new club — especially if they haven’t played in a while or have never played before. Please don’t let that put you off. Hoddesdon Cricket Club welcomes absolutely everybody. Cricket clubs should be enjoyable, sociable and accessible, and we pride ourselves on creating an environment where people settle in quickly and feel part of the club straight away.

We are actively looking to increase the number of players across all sides and all age groups as the club continues to grow. More players means more opportunities, more teams, stronger competition for places and an even bigger and better cricketing community at Lowfield.

So whether you’re:

  • A regular cricketer looking for a new challenge
  • A player returning after time away from the game
  • A junior cricketer looking to progress
  • A wicketkeeper searching for opportunities
  • A bowler wanting more overs
  • A batter looking for a fresh start
  • Somebody completely new to cricket
  • Or simply someone wanting to meet new people and enjoy being part of a thriving sports club…

Hoddesdon Cricket Club would love to hear from you. Come and be part of something special.
