Big-Hitting Sponsors Drive Hoddy Forward

'Quite simply, this is a partnership that goes far beyond sponsorship—it is a shared vision for the future of cricket at Lowfield...'
- Ian Munday - Chairman

With the long winter finally loosening its grip and the first signs of spring creeping across Lowfield, there is a tangible sense of excitement building around Hoddesdon Cricket Club. The outfield will soon be cut, the nets will hum with the sound of leather on willow, and once again, the club will come alive with cricket, community, and colour.

But before a single ball has been bowled in 2026, Hoddesdon CC has already delivered a statement of intent—one that underlines not just ambition on the field, but strength, unity, and sustainability off it.

At the heart of that statement is the renewal and expansion of the club’s two principal partnerships, with David Barney & Co. Solicitors and Tarragon Wealth, whose continued backing will now carry Hoddesdon Cricket Club through to at least 2029.

A FOUNDATION BUILT ON LOYALTY AND SUPPORT

In grassroots sport, sponsorship is far more than just logos on shirts or banners on a boundary fence. It is the lifeblood that allows clubs like Hoddesdon to thrive, to grow, and to continue serving their community year after year. That is why the club is immensely proud to confirm that both David Barney & Co. Solicitors, led by Mark Feely, and Tarragon Wealth, spearheaded by Peter Thompson, have reaffirmed their commitment in such a meaningful way.

Their renewed and expanded support represents not only financial investment but a genuine belief in what Hoddesdon Cricket Club stands for—a vibrant, inclusive, and forward-thinking community hub where cricket is just the beginning. This long-term commitment provides stability and confidence. It allows the club to plan ahead, to invest in facilities and equipment, and to ensure that players of all ages and abilities are given the best possible environment to enjoy the game.

Quite simply, this is a partnership that goes far beyond sponsorship—it is a shared vision for the future of cricket at Lowfield.

INVESTING IN THE FUTURE: KIT, IDENTITY, AND UNITY

One of the most exciting elements of this renewed sponsorship is the impact it will have on the club’s identity—both visually and culturally. For the senior section, 2026 will see the introduction of a brand-new coloured 1st XI playing kit, bringing a fresh, modern look to Hoddesdon’s top side. Complementing this will be a range of newly rebranded training shirts, with Tarragon Wealth proudly stepping in as the main training shirt sponsor.

This isa reflection of the club’s evolution. A modern club requires a modern identity, and these developments ensure Hoddesdon looks every bit as progressive as it feels.

But perhaps even more significant is what this means for the junior section.

In a landmark move, all match-playing junior teams will transition to a new coloured playing shirt in 2026, aligning them visually with the senior sides and creating a unified club identity from the youngest All Stars participant to the 1st XI.

This is a powerful step. It reinforces the message that every player is part of one club, one pathway, and one community. For young cricketers pulling on the Hoddesdon shirt for the first time, that sense of belonging can be everything.

REWARDING COMMITMENT: MEMBERSHIP INCENTIVES

In keeping with the club’s forward-thinking approach, the 2026 season also brings with it a range of exciting membership incentives designed to reward early commitment and support.

For junior players, the benefits are particularly eye-catching.

The first 50 match-playing juniors to secure a full-year membership—or set up an instalment plan via Pitchero—will receive a complimentary match shirt, worth £34.99.
Even more enticing, the first 30 of those juniors will also receive a free training shirt, valued at £20.99.

It’s a fantastic initiative that not only eases the financial burden on families but also ensures that young players can proudly represent the club in the very latest kit from day one.

Senior members haven’t been forgotten either. The first 30 senior players to complete their membership—whether paid in full or via instalments—will receive one of the newly designed training shirts, further strengthening that sense of unity across the club.

All allocations will be based on the timing of membership sign-up, with sizes accommodated while stocks last—so early action is strongly encouraged.

A MODERN CLUB WITH A CLEAR IDENTITY

The introduction of coloured kit across both senior and junior sections marks a significant moment in Hoddesdon’s journey. It reflects a club that is not afraid to embrace change while still honouring its traditions. A club that recognises the importance of presentation, identity, and pride in representing the badge. It also aligns Hoddesdon with the broader evolution of recreational cricket, where coloured kit has become increasingly popular, particularly in limited-overs formats.

And yet, beyond the aesthetics, there is something deeper at play. This is about creating a shared experience. A junior taking their first wicket on a Sunday morning or a 1st XI player walking out at Lowfield on a Saturday afternoon, there is now a visual thread that ties everyone together.

One club. One look. One identity.

ADDRESSING THE DETAILS: KIT AND AVAILABILITY

Of course, with change comes practical considerations, and the club has been proactive in ensuring that members are fully informed.

Junior players will now wear black trousers as part of their playing kit, which will need to be purchased separately. Meanwhile, additional club kit and merchandise remain available through the official club shop, providing plenty of options for players and supporters alike.

Importantly, the club has also addressed concerns from previous seasons regarding kit supply and delivery times. Following extensive discussions, suppliers Masuri are now operating with significantly improved efficiency, meaning members can order with confidence ahead of the new campaign.

It’s another example of the club listening, learning, and continually striving to improve the experience for its members.

MOMENTUM BUILDING ON AND OFF THE FIELD

While the sponsorship news provides a major boost off the field, there is equal excitement surrounding what lies ahead on it. Early indications suggest strong numbers across all sections of the club, with a host of new faces joining the Hoddesdon ranks alongside a core of returning players.

There is a real sense of momentum building.

Training sessions are already buzzing with energy. Competition for places is intensifying. And across the club, there is a shared belief that 2026 could be a special season. From junior development through to senior success, the foundations are in place for a summer to remember.

COMMUNITY AT THE HEART OF EVERYTHING

What makes Hoddesdon Cricket Club truly special, however, is not just what happens on the pitch. It is the sense of community that runs through everything the club does.

The partnerships with David Barney & Co. Solicitors and Tarragon Wealth are a perfect reflection of that ethos. Both are local businesses, led by individuals who understand and value the role that community sport plays. Their support helps fund not just cricket, but experiences. It helps create opportunities for young people, spaces for families to come together, and memories that last a lifetime.

In a world where grassroots sport often faces financial challenges, that kind of support is invaluable.

A MESSAGE OF THANKS

As the new season approaches, it is only right that the club pauses to recognise and celebrate those who make all of this possible. To Mark Feely and everyone at David Barney & Co. Solicitors, and to Peter Thompson and the team at Tarragon Wealth, the message is simple:

Thank you.

Thank you for your loyalty. Thank you for your belief. And thank you for playing such a vital role in the ongoing story of Hoddesdon Cricket Club.

We also thank committee member Harry Mason on his hard work in securing the support of our sponsors for the new season.
