Hoddesdon Cricket Club is inviting expressions of interest from members, supporters, and the wider local community who may be able to host our overseas player for the forthcoming 2026 cricket season.

As the club continues to plan ahead for another exciting summer at Lowfield, we are now beginning the process of securing suitable accommodation for our overseas player, who will be with us from April through to September.

What we’re looking for:

We are seeking a comfortable, welcoming place for our overseas player to stay during their time with the club. This could be a self-contained annex, spare room, or independent accommodation within reasonable travelling distance of Lowfield.

To recognise the commitment and support involved, a weekly hosting fee will be paid, and there is also an opportunity for existing club members to discuss their upcoming membership fees as part of the arrangement.

Reassurance and safeguarding

We understand that hosting someone for an extended period is a significant decision, and we want to reassure anyone considering this opportunity that:

The player will be fully vetted by Hoddesdon Cricket Club
A DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) will be completed
(A DBS check is a UK criminal record check that helps ensure an individual is suitable, particularly in environments involving children or vulnerable adults.)
A formal contract will be drawn up to clearly outline expectations and responsibilities, protecting both the host and the player
The club will remain closely involved throughout the season and will act as a point of contact should any support be required.

Why host an overseas player?

Hosting an overseas player is a unique opportunity to play a small but important role in the club’s summer campaign. Many previous hosts have spoken warmly about the experience, enjoying the cultural exchange, the chance to support the club behind the scenes, and being part of something that genuinely strengthens Hoddesdon Cricket Club both on and off the field.
