Neil “Bomber” Amies – matches his opening partner’s early pace but also capable of carrying his bat

Richard “Trellis” Ellis – star man, consistently turns opposition attacks into quivering wrecks
John “Burl” Pinkett – rapidly increases the tempo of an innings but doesn’t often turn fast starts into big scores

Jamie “Balky” Balkham – solid performer who can hold an innings together

Adrian “Animal” Lee – plays a long, slow game but consistent and will face down any opposition

John “Mac” Mackenzie – all-rounder excellent in all disciplines, very consistent season after season

Andy “Lingus” Cunningham – another all-rounder able to adapt to all situations in all conditions

Jeff “Green Flash” Pond – canny and beguiling, he can bamboozle opponents with his doosra but beware of the ‘wrong-un’

Aidan “Curtly” McElligott – can outlast anybody with marathon spells, ultra-consistent

Russ “Courtney” Piper – frightens the opposition top order with his speed
