Become a Friend of Hoddesdon Cricket Club

The Friends of Hoddesdon Cricket Club are a group of individual and business supporters who donate to a fund to help the club with major capital projects.

Nearly 25 years ago, in 1999, Barrie Bennett, then as President of the Club, had the idea to ask members and supporters of the club, former players, personal friends and owners of small businesses to come together to contribute to a fund to help Hoddesdon Cricket Club following some difficulties in them being able to obtain a major corporate sponsor.

The intention was always to keep these funds separate from the club finances and to hold them ring-fenced to be available when the Club asked for assistance with capital projects such as mowers, sight screens, major ground works, clubroom maintenance etc.

Barrie and Terry Pearson set up a bank account in the name of Friends of Hoddesdon Cricket Club and each Friend is asked to donate a minimum of £100 each year into this fund.

Over the years over £75,000 has been raised in this way and the Friends are a valuable and much appreciated part of the Hoddesdon CC family, acknowledged in our annual Fixture Booklet and on a board prominently displayed in the Clubroom.

Each year the Friends of Hoddesdon CC are thanked for their continued support at a splendid long Sunday lunch in the Clubroom – this year’s event is scheduled for 27th August.

During 2022 the Friends were able to make a substantial contribution to the
major refurbishment of the clubroom kitchen and purchased a new sight screen for the Club.

As all contributions benefit the Club they also qualify for Gift Aid

Please note: Gift Aid is reclaimed by us as a CASC from the tax that you pay for the current tax year and we ask for your address to confirm that you are a current UK taxpayer. Please note, if you do pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in the current tax year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on your donations it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

Please notify the CASC if you:
• want to cancel this declaration
• change your name or home address
• no longer pay sufficient tax on your income and/or capital gains

If you pay Income Tax at the higher or additional rate and want to receive the additional tax relief due to you, you must include all your Gift Aid donations on your Self-Assessment tax return or ask HM Revenue and Customs to adjust your tax code.
