HCC 2nd XI at home.

On the 24th of May hoddesdon hosted chipperfield Clarendon at lowefeild. Hoddesdon lost the toss and were put in the field.

Hoddesdon started the game superb keeping chipperfield to under 3 an over due to the tight bowling of Adam sturdy and Oliver maughn. Due to this, chances came but hoddesdon couldn't take advantage of them. Hoddesdon carried on to bowl tight with the bowling change of Harry Mason and Isaac Aitken. The fielding display from hoddesdon built pressure on chipperfield and runs were minimal, a special mention had to go to rocco cuffaro with a big effort in the feild stopping shots that should of gone for boundaries. The next change was Tom fryers coming on for aitken, fryers saw a wicket in his first over with a contender of catch of the season from Adam Sturdy on the boundary. The next over another wicket fell caught behind from the the quick hands of louis purves and the bowling of Harry mason. One more fell from the bowling of tom fryers caught by rocco cuffaro at mid off. chipperfield built a big partnership hitting runs quickly making up for there earlier overs. This carried on and they began to get into a defendable target. Finally after many expensive overs tom fryers got the break through with a caught and bowled. The next partnership scored quickly also and ended chipperfields innings on 274 for 4.

Hoddesdon had a big score to chase but was roughly a par score on that wicket. Tom fryers and Nick gandon came out to bat for hoddesdon, and started well by hitting a few boundaries and picking up some quick singles the partnership got to 50 of 10 overs and the partnership carried on. Fryers was the first to get to 50 of 19 overs. Drinks come and hoddesdon were 120 for 0 lots of extras had been bowled by chipperfield making life easier for gandon and fryers. after drinks Nick gandon made 50 runs of 26 overs. Finally the partnership ended at 156-1 as fryers took a quick single but was run out. This brought rocco cuffaro to the crease who was struggling to get of the mark and ended up getting caught at mid off. This brought in louis Purves who started well by hitting the ball over the infield for 4 but then given a suspect LBW that clearly he edged onto his pad. Next to come in was Adam sturdy who got given out first ball from a snick behind. The chipperfield bowler was on a hattrick as Adrian lee came to the crease, he got on the Back foot to cut and chopped onto his stumps, this gave the bowler his hattrick. Harry mason came in and steady the ship for hoddesdon, but Nick gandon trying to up the run rate got caught out at deep mid wicket. From then on hoddesdon couldn't keep up with the run rate and ended up getting bowled out for 202 of 44 overs.
